Gun Control: Loss of our rights as American Citizens

As you all know I am A retired Army guy.  I used weapons for 25 years and have always been an avid gun owner.  The current attack on our Second Amendment Rights is appalling and very disturbing.  Our country was founded and settled on the principals of gun ownership.  In the Constitution it states that we are able to own guns and that this right shall be unimpeded.  People that are for the assault weapons ban say that these guns have no sporting purpose and there for are not necessary for the common man to own.  They are absolutely right there is no sporting use for weapons of this type.  We don't have them for sporting purposes they are kept by us to defend our selves and our families from a tyrannical government such as the current administration.

In pre-nazi Germany, Hitler and his friends disarmed their fellow countrymen with the idea that if they took gun rights away that things would be much safer.  Much to the disappointment of the citizens this was not the real reason that Hitler had done this for.  He had done this so that his government and the military has unhindered control over the population of Germany.  He and his fellow Nazi's could do anything and everything they wanted and no one had the ability to fight back.  The same thing also happened with Stalin in Russia and Mussolini in Italy.  What part about this stupidity have we not learned.

Below is a lit of weapons that are planned for the newest weapons ban.  The list is even bigger than I had expected.

Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.

Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.

Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity. It's horrific. They're going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They've made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."

Note that Obama's pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event." In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

Yes, one of the reasons we are to keep guns as Americans is not simply for personal protections against animal predators, and occasionally two-legged varieties, but also in the avoidance of governmental tyranny. Tyranny has come.

BVD... It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.  HEy......Remember what Gandolf said.......

"This is the long deep breath before the plunge."

Tom, I feel the same way as you do.  I am wondering how bad it can really get.  Take a deep breath because it might be a long wait until the next one!! lol

Jane, I agree tyranny has showed its ugly face.  Now we just need to decide what we are going to do about it.

you draw the line in the sand, an stand ready to defend martially when they come. Remember they are breaking the law by usurping the constitution, there's a difference between authority an having power, they have and are committing treason

BVD:     I read the short version of the 23 executive 'directives'.  As these will be turned over to a bus load of unelected, that they are worded very very vaugely, but are common in the action verbs.... end game!  I have a dark vision of just how quietly and finally the end results will be 'enjected' into regulation, and then into law via the amendment process.  I never thought of myself as a 'tin foil hat' kinda guy.  There is no other direction for any.... of this to go.  OPSEC opsec opsec.  Long term plans are in order, for the prudent.  The time for sharing good ideas on the medium may be at an end.

Christ, I never thought for a moment.... not one that it would be our generation that saw this end.

For you Federalies listening in,  try and remember you were all citizen of this Republic.. that following orders will not be of much comfort to any of us when this plays out.

I feel it will get to be "VERY" bad as this isn't just a federal push but one by the states as well.....with input from the feds.  This is why we need to be ever vigilant and continually on guard.  This is a multifaceted push by the powers that be to take the one means we have for resistance......A government that fears the people begets freedom while a government that is feared by the people begets tyranny!!  Which do we have!!

The same factor also occurred with Stalin in Russian federation and Mussolini in Tuscany.  What aspect about this absurdity have we not discovered.
