Product Review: MRE Meals from Meal Kit Supply.Com

As a career soldier I have eaten more MRE's than I want to remember.  Before we had MRE's there were C-Rations and before that there were K-Rations.  The military moves upon the stomach's of their soldiers.  If the food is not good the soldier does not perform at their fullest.  The food has to be varied and taste good and most of all be easy to eat.  I was approached by Madison at Meal Kit Supply to do a test and review on their MRE meals.

I received a case with 12 meals individually packaged.  First off the case comes sealed very well and marked with easy to read information on the outside.  Once opened the meals are packed into the cases very snugly.  I like this because they have little chance to shift in the box, staying neatly stacked and easy to get at when needed.   One big difference between these meals and the full on military version is the fact that these meals are packed in a clear package so you can see the contents and read what type of meal you are grabbing.

I tried most all of the meals and could not find even one that I did not really like.  There are a few breakfast meals in the case along with the regular lunch and dinner menu's.  All of the meals came with a main entrée and a secondary entrée  snack crackers or snack bread and a different type of spread depending on the meal.  Desert is also included along with the condiments including coffee, creamer, salt and pepper wet nap and spoon along with a napkin.

If I had any type of complaint about these meals is the fact that they do not include some type of candy like the full on military version.  I always looked forward to keeping the candy until later and using it for an energy boost between meals.  I guess you could always keep a little extra candy hanging around to supplement your meals.  Oh and before I forget each meal pack comes with a meal heater enclosed that just requires a little water to get it going.  You can go to the website and order these meals by the case at www.mealkitsupply.com/us.  Please let Madison know that you are from "The Retreat" and that we are supporting them.

Just checked this site and did some comparison shopping. Their prices seem very high.

Tom I would love to be there but funds are a bit tight right now!  I think it would be a very interesting meeting to say the least.

Prices are a bit high but I like the fact that they were made Jan 2013 so that would make it worth the extra money in my opinion. You wouldn't happen to know the weight of a dinner meal would you? Just wondering about weight because I would carry some in a hunting pack.

Tom I would really like to be there but resources are a bit limited right now!  I think it would be a very exciting conference to say the least.

I spent some time in USN mess halls in the 70's eating C-rats because there was no money for supply to buy food. I did the same at times while in the Navy Reserve but this time wwe got MRE's much better. But after a while you do get tired of them.
